This page explains the data the Lybance app and website handle.

Using the app without an account

Browsing prices and news needs no account. Your preferences, such as pinned prices and language, are kept on your device. If you turn on alerts, we keep a random device ID, the notification token and the price alerts you choose, so we can send them to you.

Accounts

We keep your phone number or email, your account number and your sign-in times. A sign-in code sent by WhatsApp goes through Meta, which processes your number for that purpose.

Transaction records

Your records are kept on your device, with a compressed and encrypted backup on Lybance's servers so you can restore them on a new phone. They may include your customers' names and phone numbers if you enter them, so enter them only if you are allowed to. The admin panel never shows their contents, only the backup's size and time. Because encryption happens on the server, whoever runs the server could technically decrypt it; we do so only when you restore by signing in.

Email

If you sign up with an email or add one, we use it to send sign-in codes, and price alerts and the market summary if you keep them on. We send marketing only if you agree, and every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Emails are sent through an email provider.

Plans and subscriptions

We keep your plan, its end date and your subscription requests. We keep a one-way hash of your number or email even after the account is deleted, so the free days cannot be used twice.

Turning off and deleting

You can turn off and delete the backup at any time from the records page, and delete your account and records permanently from the same page, or at lybance.com/delete-account.html.

News and links

We show headlines with their links and sources. Opening a story takes you to the publisher's site, whose policy then applies.

Public Facebook Pages

Through Meta's official Graph API, we read the public posts of a small number of public Facebook Pages that publish the Libyan street (parallel) exchange rate. From each post we take only the rate numbers, with the post's time and link. We do not read or store comments, reactions, images or any data about people, we never read personal profiles or groups, and we do not use this data for advertising or profiling. A Page owner can ask us to stop reading their Page by messaging the Lybance Page on Facebook.

Offer codes and plans through WhatsApp

When you use an offer code we record the code, when it was used and a one-way hash of your number or email, so the code cannot be used twice. When you choose a plan we record the request on your account, and the app opens a WhatsApp chat with the Lybance office containing the plan and your account number. What you send on WhatsApp is processed by Meta under its policy.

Notifications

If you allow notifications we keep your device's notification token; notifications are sent through Expo and then Apple or Google. You can turn them off at any time in Settings or in your phone's settings.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data, use tracking advertising, or share your data except with the service providers needed to run the service (hosting, WhatsApp, email, notifications) or where the law requires.

Security and retention

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS) and PINs are stored as a one-way hash. We keep account data while the account exists and delete it when the account is deleted, except the one-way hash described above. Server logs are deleted automatically after a limited time.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export and delete your data in the app, or by contacting us. Accounts are not for people under 18.
